The Rub began in the summer of 2002, as a party where Brooklynites with good taste in music could come together, get wasted and dance until the wee hours of the morning.  From the very beginning, it was clearly something special, garnering praise from the Village Voice (“best party in Brooklyn to dance sweatily to smart music”), New York Press (“best party in NYC”) and many others.  Years later, the original formula still holds true: great dance music mixed well, affordable drinks, and real people; no dress code, no bottle service and no celebrity DJs.

Building on the consistently rammed club night, The Rub grew beyond NYC institution status, taking the party around the world, moving hundreds of thousands of records and CDs, recording legendary mixes such as The History of Hip-Hop and racking up hundreds of episodes of Rub Radio.  The Rub has played shows with everyone from Gucci Mane to The Chemical Brothers, DJ Premier to A-Trak, always evolving but never forgetting the foundation of hip-hop, classic disco, funk and soul.

The Rub is the last Saturday every month at The Bell House.
