FOTR: Dirty South Joe

FOTR this week is Dirty South Joe. This dude has been repping Philly in a big way for a long time. Mad Decent, Armand’s, Mad Decent Block Party (when it was just a 1 day event in Philly) and Hollerboard are just some of the things DSJ laid his early marks on and he’s been on a solid roll of doing dope stuff ever since. He’s been steady influential on the careers of the entire Brick Bandits crew. His Luvstep mix series with Flufftronix has played a big roll in the more chilled sounds of bass music breaking through to the masses. His “So Far Gone” Drake night has taken off in the last couple years and is now a traveling party. Oh…and he’s got dank memes for days. Check out his mix for Feel Good Records from last year and link up with Joe on his socials as well.

FOTR this week is Nick Hook. He’s one of the most connected and respected producer types out there and his resume is pretty amazing over the last decade or so. Last week he announced his latest single and forthcoming LP on Fool’s Gold Records along with an extensive fall tour to support the record. He’s always been a bit of a chameleon with his music and this single featuring Novelist below hints at more of the same. FOTR: DJ Nu-Mark

FOTR this week is DJ Nu-Mark. He’s a past guest of The Rub way back in the Southpaw days and his time with Jurassic 5 should be familiar to most all readers of this website. The thing that’s always set him apart from other DJs is his sheer ability to use unusual tools and tricks to show new and creative ways of flexing on a “dj” set. Whether it’s rocking fisher price toys, tiny record players or even a rubberband on a tone arm…Nu-Mark is just a different breed of party rocker. Also doesn’t hurt that his selections are top notch as well. 3 great examples of his prowess are below with his recent birthday Zodiac mix set for the Leo’s, his recent feature mix on BBC 6 and his set on the tiny decks for DJ City back in May. All are immediately worth watching / pressing play.
