San Francisco DJ and production duo Brother in Arms is our FOTR this week as spring and summer vibes are officially in full swing. If you’re not aware, BIA is made up of a couple of well accomplished DJs and producers in their own right. Deejay Theory and J Boogie have both been cranking out quality tunes and mixes for what seems like forever, but the groove they are beginning to catch as a duo has us hooked. Just take a listen to their latest remix below, which is a very classy west coast house take on an already tasty tune from Love Taps. Great new tune from Treasure Fingers and Ghosts of Venice here for That New New this week and the throwback rave vibes are very strong with this one. As a single release with two mixes, “Moving On” as a whole is definitely tight, but it’s the ‘Warehouse Mix’ that really got me going. The U.K hardcore influenced breakbeats and synth stabs are basically everything and I feel like the world just got a new potential anthem for the afterhours and sunrise sets. At least, that’s what’s speaking to me here. What is silly is there’s no download or formal release details for the track. Release this bad boy and let it breathe because this one kinda rules fellas.

4/25 – Skip-the-line tickets

We’ve got 100 skip-the-line tickets for tomorrow’s party and they’re going fast. $15 jumps you right past a long wait in line, regardless of when you show up to The Bell House. Otherwise, The Rub line is always a roadblock by 11:00 pm. So if you don’t want to wait, advice is to come out early. Special guests this month are DJ Knife from Boston and recent BK transplant, Brent Tactic.
New Rub Radio is up as well to get you fully primed for Saturday night.

Just one listen to his recently released STRANGE BREW 5 will show you, dude has some deep crates and is definitely not scared of changing genres or decades. Makes you think his set this Saturday is not to be missed eh?

Shlohmo has been someone to watch in the electronic music underground for some time now as he’s one of the reasons why the west coast beat scene ever became a thing in recent years. As his slow, sometimes brooding music has built a steady fan base for him over time…it was his collaborations with singer Jeremih that really made a number of listeners (and the press) take note. He released his new solo album, Dark Red, earlier this month on True Panther/We Did It and it’s a bit of a sonic departure for him. It’s interesting to hear how the distorted electronic R&B type sounds he helped popularize have now evolved into more experimental soundscapes that more closely resemble My Bloody Valentine and Squarepusher, as if sounds and ideas in the electronic underground have almost come full circle. “Beams”, one of our favorites from this bold new LP, is featured below for this week’s That New New.
#TBT DJ Ayres – Space ‘N Faders

There’s just something about dance tunes from the 1980’s that always makes me incredibly happy. The energy and vibe of the music from this time period was unprecedented and laid a huge foundation for dance music as a whole. For our #TBT this week, we take a look back at DJ Ayres and his Space ‘N Faders mix, which he laced with great tracks from this era. Classics from the likes of Shannon, Depeche Mode, Rockwell, Nu Shooz and so many more essentials make up this excellent tracklist. Cool story about this mix is that it was Ayres’ first ever mix for Turntable Lab back in 2000 and Scott from Ten Deep did the cover art to completely compliment the vibe.
