FOTR: Dave Nada

FOTR this week is long time homie Dave Nada who’s going on a REAL MOOMBAHTON HOURS tour to donate a portion of his fees to charity in every market and bring awareness to communities all over the country. It’s already inspired other DJs to take to social media this week and pledge to charities in similar ways. It’s all about bringing people together when it matters most. Check out his mission statements, announced tour dates and mixtape to launch the project below.

1) The world needs to party together some more and nothing brings a dance floor together like moombahton music, so let’s get it!

2) I will be donating 10% of my fees in support of *local non-profit organizations in each town/community I play. Moombahton has always been a family affair, so I’m using my platform to help others and to raise awareness for groups and institutions that need it. If you fw the vision and would like to link and build fam, holler at me! davenada@gmail.com.

2.27 – That New New

TNN returns this week after a week off. And while there’s been a healthy dose of new music coming out, the last 10 days or so absolutely and completely belong to Future. He’s dropped two 17 song LPs in back-to-back weeks, each album catered to specific audiences and both are slotted to debut #1 on the Billboard Top 200. If that goes down, that’s the first time ever an artist has released 2 albums in 2 weeks and they both debut at #1. So with the spirit of history, here’s 4 songs from these LPs that stood out after early listening sessions. Stream all 4 in full below.

FOTR: Chances With Wolves

Our second FOTR this week and additional special guests at The Bell House this Saturday night is Chances With Wolves. This dj duo made up of Kenan and Kray have been running with CWW as a radio show for going on 9 years now and are way more interested in the vibe than any sort of restricted format. Check out the latest episode of their wonderful show below (a special tribute to Nina Simone at that!) and make sure you check them on the set Saturday night with the rest of the crew!

FOTR: Phi Unit

1 of our FOTR this week is Phi Unit, one of our guests this month for The Rub. Phi has been in BK for a grip now and has certainly made his mark as a DJ and producer. His “So Emotional” mixtape and remix series with other FOTR Cousin Cole is kinda legendary at this point, with their midtempo and tropical flavored flips of vibey love induced cuts. What’s really kept him busy and spreading his wings in recent years is his Building Beats program, which brings music and DJ programs to schools and underprivileged youth. It started out as a NY specific program but has quickly spread with national and international recognition. Check out his Playground Podcast below as well as links to all his relevant urls. And don’t miss Phi at The Bellhouse this coming Saturday!

#TBT – DJ Ayres – Twelves 12″ Live Vinyl Mix

#TBT this week to DJ Ayres and the all vinyl mix he did for Southern Hospitality back in 2009 for their world renown Twelves 12: Live Vinyl Mix Series. The series was based on the premise of picking 12 of your favorite 12″s and laying it down live. Ayres went in with classics from Fonda Rae, Alicia Myers, Three Times Dope, Nu-Yorican Soul, RCMP, U.P.I. and more. Revisit this killer mix in full above.

FOTR: mOma + Guy

FOTR this week is again mOma + Guy. Sure we just featured them a couple months ago with The Rih-Fix and now they are back again with another batch of funky tropical flavored uptempo edits that you basically need in your crates. The “Fake Love” and “Bad & Boujee” flips alone are worth copping here but they all have some flavor. Check the sounds below and jump over to their Bandcamp and “name your price” to snag the full EP.

2.13 – That New New

TNN flies in this week with a bit under the radar as it was a relatively quiet week for the nu nu (the week before the Grammy’s is not the best time to release new music…friendly FYI). First up is a new one from Desiigner. Hate this dude all you want but fact is he’s got some of the dopest producers in the world behind him now and “Outlet” is a FIRE instrumental at worst. Solid new tune at best. Next up is a cool collab from 2 of the internet’s favorite new rappers in KYLE and Cousin Stizz. Another super fire beat here. Finally is teenager Ama Lou coming through with some dissonant R&B and dancehall vibes that feel very interesting and worth keeping an overall eye on. Stream em all in full below.
