Rub Radio is bursting at the seams with special guests this month, starting with DJ Mehdi (Ed Banger) and A-Trak (Fool’s Gold), who dropped in for an interview with The Rub at Winter Music Conference 2009. Next up is Danny Daze, who takes us from roots in the Miami electro scene to remixes with his Discotech team all the way up to their original production as Señor Stereo. Danny blesses the turntables along with The Rub boys, who mix in new wave, dirty south hip-hop, soul, house and more. Listen right here:

The Rub guys take you on a journey through dance music on this month’s Rub Radio. Special guest Andy Butler of Hercules and Love Affair (DFA) stops through to talk about some of his recent success and what motivates him. Then Chicago’s Brick Bandits Ghetto Division wax poetic on their road to creating their own hybrid of Baltimore Club music with a distinct Chi-town twist before destroying a set of their hits!
New Rub Radio with Fool’s Gold honchos A-Trak & Nick Catchdubs, plus epic hilarity from Andrew Andrew. Plus music! Go listen (or just rock it on our embedded player in the far right column). We got video too:

Check out this interview with our guest at The Rub in August:
“DJ Jonny Blaze has been a key figure in Baltimore club for more than a decade. So when I contacted him for an interview recently, he was understandably curious about what took me so long to look him up. But the fact of the matter is, well, there’s a lot of Jonny Blazes out there-I mistakenly introduced myself to another DJ using the name at an event a couple years ago. “Man, it’s like hundreds of ’em,” says the 38-year-old producer born John Grant. “They hit me up on MySpace, ‘How long you had your name?’ One guy said he had his name since 2005. I got you beat, my cousin gave me my name back in ’88.”

We’ve got a few changes to announce: The Rub website has finally made the leap to proper blog. Thanks Oka! Thanks Andy! So from now on, news will be on the front page here, and everything will properly archive, making the site a lot easier for us to update and for you to follow. The other real big news is that all the mixes are back up on Crewcial.org. Thanks Ian! That includes all the Hip-Hop History mixes and a ton of other mixes littered throughout the news page. Be sure to grab all The Rub Live mixes (2003 – 2007) here: http://therub.crewcial.org/live/
Last, we are working on It’s The Motherfucking Remix Vol. 3, which will be out in September on CD with remixes from a ton of great DJs including the usual suspects and some newer names who have played at The Rub more recently. So definitely be on the lookout for that!
This month, The Rub celebrates their seven year anniversary! New Jersey Club producer DJ Tameil comes through and talks about his early days learning the ropes with Redman and Artifacts all the way up to his present day movement. Tameil drops an alternatingly rock hard, poppy and often hilarious DJ set showcasing his Brick Bandits crew along with new Philly and Baltimore Club exclusives.
