7.11 – That New New

TNN is back this week after a week off and we’ve got some big names crashing the new music party once again. While it was a very tumultuous week in a number of ways, the music world came with it and provided us with the continued release it always seems to be there for. First up, there’s Francis & The Lights with features from Kanye West and Bon Iver. You may recognize this tune as a sample from Chance the Rapper’s recent “Coloring Book” mixtape. Second is the Black Hippy (Kendrick Lamar, Schoolboy Q, Jay Rock & Ab-Soul) remix of Schoolboy Q’s “That Part” and it just makes you feel like rap is in a good place with this crew. Finally, we’ve got a collaboration from M.I.A. and Skrillex, which honestly seemed inevitable at this point. It appears to be another glimpse into her forthcoming new album as well. Peep all 3 tunes in full below.

6.27 – That New New

The end of June is upon us and summer is officially in full swing. And on the TNN tip, there is never any slowing down with solid and notable new tunes coming out. It seems to be just a way of life in 2016. First up, we’ve got a huge new posse cut from Jeezy, 2 Chainz and Future called “Magic City Monday”. 2 Chainz stays stealing the show like always. Second, we’ve got a new original from NY house producer, Moon Boots. He drops a really smooth foray into ’90s influenced classic dance vibes. Finally, we’ve got a new cut from THEY., an eclectic duo that’s burst onto the music scene in the last 12 months. Their latest, “Say When”, is a super rouged and bluesy banger. You can stream all 3 in full below.

6.20 – That New New

TNN this week was the second week in a row that some “lesser” names in music had some room to breathe and get some new music heard. This year has been so bombarded with big name releases that it’s been a challenge to really find that true “new new”. This week saw the first single and video for Danny Brown’s new album drop and this gothic rowdy club vibe suits him very well. Newcomer Maggie Rogers got a huge plug from Pharrell in a critical listening session at NYU that went viral on the web and now that song in the video, “Alaska”, is up for the whole world to hear in it’s completed form. Finally, we’ve got the LP return of YG and a killer album cut “Gimmie Got Shot”. Peep all 3 in full below.

6.13 – That New New

TNN this week gets off to somber tone as we’re still reeling from the weekend’s real life tragic events in Orlando. We believe like many of you do…the best thing we can all do is practice love and tolerance…and to just keep going. And while the releases from this past week may be light on the bigger names like previous weeks, the quality is still high. First up is the bubbling Florida rapper Kodak Black, who released his brand new mixtape over the weekend. “Vibin In This Bih” is a standout and features the gawd Gucci Mane. Second, we see a grime remix drop from Murlo, who’s a producer who continues to show his versatility genre wise but always maintains a signature sound. Finally, we’ve got new comer Khalid who dropped a surefire pop gem that hopefully puts a smile on your face. All 3 tunes are streaming in full below.

6.6 – That New New

TNN is swinging right into June (how is it already June?!?!) and the last 7 days has kind of been like a whirl wind of big names dropping new music left and right…again. Friday saw Kanye and the G.O.O.D. music crew share an untitled demo (call it “Champions” if you want) of a huge posse cut featuring Ye, Travis Scott, Gucci Mane, Big Sean, Quavo, Yo Gotti, 2 Chainz & Desiigner. End of last week also saw the first proof that a new album from The Avalanches was actually happening as they shared “Frankie Sinatra” featuring Danny Brown and MF Doom. Wrapping it up this week is a great new 90’s flavored coming of age hybrid of a track from ROY. Stream/watch all 3 in full below.

5.30 – That New New

Hope everyone had a safe and fantastic Memorial Day weekend. Even with folks getting outside and celebrating the start of summer, the new music train doesn’t really ever stop. First off we have a new Cam’ron and Juelz Santana sighting from a little over a week ago and it sounds so classic Dipset it hurts. Second, our bud Nick Catchdubs dropped some new Jiggy Blends “for the regular party folks” this past week and there’s a couple here featured that feel immediately useful in most every dj set. Finally, we see the first official release from Recloose in 3 years with the title track from his fresh new EP on Aus Music. Stream all of them in full below.

5.23 – That New New

TNN this week (kinda) got a break from the huge names releasing new projects. With the continued push for daily stimulating content though, there’s still massive amounts of music hitting the interwebs from names big and small. And this week there’s some names out front here you may know but definitely haven’t heard from in awhile. First up is Craig David and his official first comeback solo single “One More Time”. He’s been popping up on a number of collabs over the past few months but here we get his familiar R&B UK Garage flavor we remember so well. Second up is a new heater from YG as he’s been reading his follow up LP to My Krazy Life and this first single with features from Drake and Kamaiyah definitely bumps. Third, we’ve got the first new Sampha sighting in forever and he sounds just as soothing and soulful as ever. Finally, we’ve got hot new kid on the scene, Joey Purp, rocking all over a beat that sounds like the Neptunes at their weirdest with a guest shot from Chance The Rapper. Stream all 4 tunes in full below.

5.16 – That New New

It’s the middle of May and 2016 has already solidified itself as a massive year for new music. Huge releases left and right as the weeks go by and this last week was really no different. Chance The Rapper most likely won the week with the unveiling of his third mixtape “Coloring Book”. The gospel impulse is strong throughout and “Summer Friends” is a favorite on the release that has some Paul Simon “Graceland” vibes going on as well. Post Malone dropped a new mixtape as well and “Money Made Me Do It” with 2 Chainz is an early standout. Father Dude officially released the first single from his upcoming debut EP and “Eyes On You” feels like an instant smash on the first listen. Finally, Kamaiyah dropped her first song since her debut mixtape from a couple months ago and she just stays on fire.

5.9 – That New New

TNN was gone for a week and good lord did some big projects drop in that time frame. Plus, there’s a new LP from Radiohead that dropped just yesterday. Beyonce, Drake, James Blake, Skepta, etc etc…the flood of new tunes is incredibly very real right now. Even though there’s some big/recognizable names below, we decided to focus on a few of these new releases that may have slipped under your radar. Did you know Alicia Keys dropped an amazing new single as well? Neither did we until yesterday, but it’s so worth the listen. Kaytranada’s debut LP is FINALLY out and it may actually be better than advertised. And finally, Chuck Inglish (of Cool Kids fame) dropped his 2nd LP in 6 months. This time it’s in collaboration with production duo Blended Babies. All 3 projects can be streamed in full below. This column was built to push new music releases and there is no better time than right now to find something new to fall in love with.

4.25 – That New New

Even through great lost in any community, there’s always a new day. Especially in the always beautiful and vibrant music community, there’s always the next up (artist or song) to shine. That’s been a primary focus of TNN since day 1. And this week, we’ve got some exciting new music for you. First up is the recently released collaboration from DJ Shadow and Run The Jewels off of Shadow’s forthcoming LP. This is really the absolute best of both worlds here, if you’ve been a fan of either or both. Next we’ve got A$AP Ferg’s video for “Let It Bang” which isn’t necessarily new, but his 2nd album just dropped on Friday and the first track in the video, “Psycho”, is previewed and is probably the most fire tune on the whole LP. Finally, we’ve got the 4/20 themed Infuze re-roll of Baauer’s infamous remix of Flosstradamus’ “Roll Up”. Lot’s to take in there alone in the title but it’s a future bass rave banger and Fool’s Gold supported. Peep all 3 below.
