EDIT: I wrote a long, kinda bummer version of this post which reads like an excerpt from The Adderall Diaries. But then I realized that besides being kinda weird and sad, it didn’t fit the format of TNN, so here’s the decaf version, with the longer version after the jump.
New Disclosure! Besides “Nocturnal,” other highlights from the album are “Good Intentions” feat. Miguel, “Willing and Able” feat. Kwabs, and “Holding On” feat. Gregory Porter.
If Fetty Wap’s album had come out in June it would have easily been our pick for album of the summer. Even without the great singles (“Trap Queen,” “679,” “My Way”), the whole record is a solidly enjoyable listen.
You know that thing where you friend sends you her music and you don’t want to listen because you’re afraid you aren’t going to like it (because you don’t like anything) and then you would feel awkward but then you do listen to it a month later and it’s really good, and then you feel stupid for overthinking it? Or is that just me?
TL;DR including unsolicited thoughts on TheWeeknd record below.
More wonderful new music for you…
For more of this vibe, also check out Caladhort (Warlord Edit), which is a little more PC Music tacky but also way more hype.
“Discipline” also has excellent remixes from Ryan Hemsworth and Panteros666.

EDIT: Epic Records is pulling down #WATTBA streaming tracks as fast as they’re uploaded, so here’s the album on iTunes instead.
And last night the Drake & Future What A Time To Be Alive mixtape dropped and as expected the internet basically broke. The release is fairly short in length but consistently strong, most likely because Metro Boomin executive produced the project.

Last week we gave you a huge shot of new music in the form of Rub Radio and this week we’re back with TNN (That New New). Travis Scott’s new LP has dropped and is full of big tunes. One of my favs from the album, which features Quavo from Migos, is below. Treasure Fingers has released a collection of remixes of his latest single on his new label with MSCLS chiming in with some crazy breed of future house that’s very tasty. Escort continues to evolve, dropping a handful of gems in the buildup to their new album. Last we’ve got a tune from Motin, who just released a great new Latin club flavored EP on Discos Peligrosa.

A new week and some more cool new music to share with you all. The boss man Ayres slides through this week with a couple of picks and some words as to why he’s feeling them. Take a listen!
FKA Twigs – M3LL155X EP
Dope production on this one, and it’s a little more “weird and good” IMO, as opposed to “weird for the sake of being weird” like some of her earlier stuff. Plus it comes with a pretty terrific 16 minute video.
Aeroplane – Page One Is Love
Aeroplane hits our sweet spot almost every time – groovy enough to draw us in, and always perfect for that 11:45 PM in the club, heavy warmup house set.

Two new ones to share with you today for TNN (That New New) that may or may not be David Lee Roth & Madonna approved. First up is a new original from long time Rub homie, Tittsworth. “Ha-Ta-Dan” is a tribal type house banger with guest vocals from none other than dancehall legends T.O.K. and it’s out now on Zulu Records. Second is a heady future house type of cut from new Fool’s Gold artist, Madeaux, who’s got a massive debut EP for the label dropping next month. Stream both new jams below. We think you’ll be glad you did.

As we’ve been developing this weekly column into something that covers multiple releases from multiple artists, an album from Dr. Dre just so happened to drop last Friday. And since it’s been 16 years since his last full length release and his first 2 are generally recognized as classics in the history of rap…it only makes sense that Compton got fully digested over here in a hurry. And while the jury is generally out that this is his worst album of the three, there’s definitely a ton of heatrocks on here and the production across the board is top notch. Here’s a link to the Apple Music stream for you to check out if you haven’t had a chance to listen yet. Is this the best album from a rapper in his 50’s ever? Most likely so.

After a week off, we’re back with a new edition of #TNN (That New New) and there’s a couple of tasty new goodies to share with you today. First off, if you’ve been living under the proverbial rock, there’s a new Disclosure album coming September 25th and the new tune the did with Sam Smith has hit the web. “Omen” follows a similar format to their worldwide smash “Latch” but has a more straight ahead dancefloor appeal musically and the track itself has anthem #2 for them written all over it. Track two today comes from D.C. native Rex Riot and his remix for XYLØ’s “Between the Devil and the Deep Blue Sea”. It’s a bit of a new sound from Rex but it’s pretty massive with it’s bouncy synthed out hip-hop feel along with it’s very catchy use of the original vocal. Peep both tunes in full below.
As we promised last week, #TNN is now a post where we feature a number of things recently released that we’re feeling. And this past week was an absolute overload with new albums dropping from the likes of The Chemical Brothers, Future, Tame Impala and many more. Damn near ‘Christmas in July’ if the cliche statement could become an actual reality. While there’s so much cool stuff to share with you, let’s narrow it down a bit to a few highlights. There’s the Beck featured Wide Open on the new Chems album that just oozes New Order. Future went ham over all of DS2 and easily one of the hardest tracks is the Drake featured Where Ya At. Tame Impala might be the classiest band in rock right now and their psychedelic pop accented dance-y feels are on full display with The Moment. Stream all 3 of these cool new tunes below right now.

If you’ve been following our ‘That New New’ (#TNN) weekly column, you’ve probably noticed the focus has been on one particular song/video/release at a time. While that’s all very cool and all, the real story is that there’s been a steady flow of music we’re all collectively into. Starting today, we’re going to make an effort to feature more music in our weekly #TNN section in hopes that we can effectively share more of the stuff that we’re into. Jumping right into it today, we’ve got a Felix Snow produced tune from newcomer Kiiara, a new school R&B gem from A.CHAL and a choice cut from Vince Staples fire new double album. Dive in friends. We’ll be doing our best to keep up this steady flow of fresh content and hope you enjoy all the new music.

Los Angeles based groove oriented crew The Internet stepped to the plate very recently with their 3rd LP, Ego Death. While the whole album is smooth as silk, we’ve selected their collaboration with Kaytranada as our #TNN (That New New) feature this week. This almost 7 min excursion into head nod worthy funk and R&B is ear candy from start to finish and their overall vibe balances that fine line between very unique all while remaining incredibly familiar. R&B seems to be in good hands with The Internet and this whole album comes highly recommended. Check out “Girl” streaming in full below.
