He’s rocked at The Rub many many times over the years and is the homie stromie, so we’ve had the chance to call out DJ mOma as a FOTR more than a couple times already. (Like here and here.)
In case you don’t already know, his Everyday People party is one of the best parties in NYC and regularly hits the road all over the U.S. Along with Eli Escobar, another long-time FOTR, Mo has a years long residency at Le Bain called Dance Dance Dance and he regularly fills in for ?uestlove at his Bowl Train party at Brooklyn Bowl.
A great dude, an always inspiring party rocker, and a true music head. You can be guaranteed mOma’s going to murder The Annual Rub Halloween party this Saturday!

His POOLS project with Thee Mike B is all about some spaced out funk and disco as well, further showing the music world what makes Morse Code tick. FOTR this week is Cousin Cole. Originally from the Midwest, Cole moved to NY more than a decade ago and has been laying a foundation of cool music and good friend levels ever since. Originally breaking out a bit back in the Hollerboard days with his club music productions and clever remixes, he started DJing on the reg in NY and eventually all over the world. A few years later, his “So Emotional” series with Phi Unit solidified the soulful movement in Moombahton as a very legitimate thing. Today, Cole’s DJing on the steady in NY and still cranking out interesting tunes, including these 3 super handy recent flips of Beyonce. Peep them below and make sure to check out Cole on the socials.

FOTR: Dirty South Joe

FOTR this week is Dirty South Joe. This dude has been repping Philly in a big way for a long time. Mad Decent, Armand’s, Mad Decent Block Party (when it was just a 1 day event in Philly) and Hollerboard are just some of the things DSJ laid his early marks on and he’s been on a solid roll of doing dope stuff ever since. He’s been steady influential on the careers of the entire Brick Bandits crew. His Luvstep mix series with Flufftronix has played a big roll in the more chilled sounds of bass music breaking through to the masses. His “So Far Gone” Drake night has taken off in the last couple years and is now a traveling party. Oh…and he’s got dank memes for days. Check out his mix for Feel Good Records from last year and link up with Joe on his socials as well.

FOTR this week is Nick Hook. He’s one of the most connected and respected producer types out there and his resume is pretty amazing over the last decade or so. Last week he announced his latest single and forthcoming LP on Fool’s Gold Records along with an extensive fall tour to support the record. He’s always been a bit of a chameleon with his music and this single featuring Novelist below hints at more of the same. Check out the video, be on the lookout for the LP and make sure to catch Nick when he comes through your city.
