New mix of disco and house with our friends Escort, to gear up for our party Friday night. Head on over to Complex for the full writeup and tracklist.
We’ve known the guys from Chances with Wolves since probably the second Rub, in 2002. Both Kenan and Kray worked with us at Southpaw for 8 or 9 years, and Kenan has DJed The Rub at least 5 times. They had one of the most popular shows on East Village Radio, and continue to record and release shows on their website. When it came time to pick a guest for our 12 Year Anniversary, Chances was our first choice. Get familiar after the jump:
Many thanks to Chino for writing our names on our anniversary flyer and also just for general stand-up-dudery over the years. Watch the video, then read him on 12OZ Prophet, listen to him on Small Talk and buy all of his books, they’re terrific.
Between Prince Klassen and our special guest from Dallas, Texas is taking over The Rub this Saturday!
Coming off a packed SXSW schedule and tour stops in DC, Philly, Pittsburg and Boston (where he rocked with the homie DJ Knife to celebrate the release of “Strange Brew 4“), DJ Sober is fittingly wrapping up his tour of the Northeast as our guest at this month’s Rub.
When dude’s not putting together great mixes or smashing parties all over Texas, he’s making dope original music with PICNICTYME, his partner in Booty Fade. Check out their recent EP here:

“When my friends at The Rub asked me to DJ their holiday party back in 2007 I didn’t really know what to play, so apparently I decided to play everything. In just under 50 minutes this set goes from Damian Marley to Super Cat to KRS-ONE to Souls of Mischief to Lisa Lisa to Vybz Kartel to The Eurythmics to Pitbull. So weird. Enjoy.”
This Saturday is The Rub’s annual Halloween party, pretty much our favorite party of the year, so we hollered at a couple of our favorite DJs to rock at the Bell House with us. Here are a couple of mixtapes from Bo Bliz and Prince Klassen for you to listen to while you’re getting your costume straight:

This Saturday at The Rub we have a toofer, with Cousin Cole plus the one called Jubilee. Pre-game with these mixes then get there at 10:00 because they’ll be “rocking out” (sorry) in the front room as soon as we open the doors!
