DJ Ayres on tour with Carte Blanche

I’m going out on tour for a couple of weeks with DJ Mehdi and Riton, who have a new project called Carte Blanche on Ed Banger records. Here is the video for Gare Du Nord, with classic dance footage from Detroit.

Blu Jemz will be joining us; he’s an old friend from Brooklyn who has at least 10 different things going on at any given time, including but not limited to his post-Dilla beats projects, dance-rap group Da Hardy Boyz, goth group Dark Dreams, Turntablelab Radio and on and on. He’s a sweetheart and a maniac and a hilarious dude. Here is his remix for Drop The Lime, which just came out on Trouble & Bass:

Drop the Lime – Sex Sax (Blu Jemz in Mellow Remix)

You must RSVP to attend the Scion Radio 17 parties.

Tuesday, June 22, 2010 – Tampa
Wednesday, June 23 – Minneapolis
Thursday, June 24 – Bloomington

Snacky Tunes

I did a guest spot on Snacky Tunes yesterday – check it out right here. They’ve conveniently broken up the show so you can listen to individual sections – just click on “DJ Ayres Live Set” to jump right to the music. The whole show is interesting, with guests talking about local food, a new cookbook, urban gardening, and more. The Heritage Radio Network is in the back of Roberta’s pizza restaurant in Bushwick, Brooklyn, and they gave us free brick-oven pizza, so that was awesome. My tracklist:

Pumpkin Patch – Grooveberry Jam
Cassius – 99 (Tim Green remix)
Rampage & Nader – Get Up (coming soon on T&A!)
T.I. – What You Know (Doc Adams edit)
Ciara & Ludacris – Ride
Simian Mobile Disco – Cruel Intentions (Joker remix)

Eleven’s new EP release

Over a year after starting on the project, the song that I did with the homie Mike Baker The Bike Maker has finally hit the (digital) record stores (and their virtual shelves)! Vancouver’s Kutcorners contributed a great bassline for the original version. Mike2600, Illo + Keam, and DJ Ayres (you may have heard of him) all flipped great remixes! And, Kalani did a fantastic job freakin’ the artwork.

If you look on down below the artwork, you’ll see more than a couple places to buy it!

Turntable Lab or Gigacrate or Juno or Amazon or iTunes

Rub Radio: April 22, 2010

Download Rub Radio April 22, 2010 (right click “save target as”)

I’ve been meaning to do a new hip-hop mix for a while, but it kept getting swallowed up by mixes for our other Rub Radio show on Scion broadband.  But I got a few months ahead on the other show, so I had some time to bang this out.  Tons of new shit I’m feeling right now, and I threw in a few non-hip-hop selections to give it some flavor, but you know I had to start it off with Gangstarr.  Tracklist after the jump.

Business Class – Running (DJ Ayres remix)

NatalieStormPressPic
Natalie Storm

I remixed my friends Business Class, and you can download the MP3 for free! The original is a hybrid bass-pop jam (get it right here). I turned it into a house tune, somewhere in afro-jack-beats territory. Download right here:

Business Class ft. Natalie Storm & Tifa – Running (DJ Ayres remix) (Sendspace)

Burlesque Design dug this remix so much they put it on their Do It To It 3 CD – a bunch of our friends have great tracks on it, and you have to see how insane the packaging is:

brlsq2

My favorite tune on the CD is Pumpkin Patch’s remix of the Doobie Brothers – that’s coming out on Young Robots sometime soon.

Live At Home 26 – DJ Ayres

We’ve been doing parties and stuff with Fully Fitted for years: our buddies Alex XXXChange, Pase Rock, Devlin & Darko, Ghostdad and Prince Klassen. They’ve been doing these Live At Home mixes for a while now, and when they asked us to participate we were happy to rock for them.  The idea is to record a dj mix live in one take, playing music you like to listen to at home.  I stepped up for volume 26, which you can listen to, download and read about over at the Fully Fitted blog.  Lots of funk, soul, disco, a little hip-hop and latin and so forth.  Groovy shit!
