#TBT – The Rub – Under The Boardwalk
Posted: June 15, 2017 Filed under: Rub Radio, TBT | Tags: Rub Radio, TBT#TBT this week is full of some of the most classic music of all time as we revisit the Rub Radio mix, Under The Boardwalk, from Summer of 2014. Ayres and Eleven put it together as an official send off to that summer and it’s a great way to kick this one off. The kids are just getting out of school and the weather FINALLY has started to resemble what it’s supposed to feel like in June. There’s nothing on this mix released after 1968 just to give you a perspective on how timeless this music really is. Revisit this nostalgia blast from the past with the stream above and download below.

FOTR this week is NYC’s own Herbert Holler. You’ve probably seen/heard him as part of the trifecta of DJs that make up Freedom Party (shout out Cozi and Marc Smooth), but he’s been lacing the NY party seen for a decade plus with feel good music. He dropped this “Friends With Benefits” mix last month and it caught our collective ears as something we wanted to share. As a dude who’s out to make people smile and appreciate music as much as he does, it definitely permeates this super fresh mix. Stream in full below and make sure to connect with Herbert on the socials.

TNN this week features a bunch of great new records to help fuel what now really should be starting to feel like Summer everywhere outside. First up is another new one from Vince Staples, featuring Ty Dolla $ign, from his forthcoming new LP due the end of this month. Next up is some yacht rock vibes from Toro Y Moi, which feels like a sleeper jam that could slay on the chill rooftop party tip. Finally is a new heater from 6lack, who’s showing quickly that last year’s debut was no fluke. Stream all 3 in full below.
#TBT this week comes from Ayres and his Sun Lovers reggae and dancehall mix that won a Scion free mix competition several years ago. This is fitting as it’s actually (almost) warm and sunny in NY finally and it’s June. Turn this one up loud as this mix is full of classics new and old and is perfect for this time of here. Revisit this one in full above.

TNN walks right into June and things just continue to stay interesting and fruitful on the new music front. The big guns stay firing and there was grip of quality new new that dropped this past week. First up is a new heater from 2 Chainz ft. Travis Scott on the hook that’s continuing 2 Chainz’ foray into more psychedelic soundscapes. It’s also the first taste of his new studio album due very soon. Second, is a new one from the legendary Giorgio Moroder on a collaboration with Phantoms featuring vocals from the quickly rising Prince Charlez. Interesting peak time 2017 disco vibes here that are unexpectedly and really well done. Last up is a new one from A.Chal, who we featured some last year. His new EP is out now and yet again very on point. Peep all 3 in full below.

#TBT – The Rub – History of Hip-Hop 1995
Posted: May 18, 2017 Filed under: History of Hip-Hop, TBT | Tags: History Of Hip-Hop, TBTThe History of Hip Hop 1995 by Brooklyn Radio on hearthis.at
TBT this week to 1995 and a very strong argument year for the “golden era” of rap. Like legitimately, there are too many classic tracks and albums that dropped in 1995 to justifiably mention. Featured here are forever anthems from Mobb Deep, Luniz, Bone Thugs, Biggie, ODB, Three 6 Mafia, Junior M.A.F.I.A, GZA, 2Pac and this track list gets ridiculous in a hurry. With this deft mix of 80+ tracks that absolutely matter, ’95 gets a proper shine in what was one of the most influential years in the history of hip-hop. Stream in full above and grab the download below as well.
